At LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, our people make the difference and we are excited to expand the team with the newest addition of real estate professional, Lori Hess. Learn more about Lori and why she joined the LIV family:
What’s your favorite part about guiding your client through the real estate experience? My favorite part about guiding a client through the real estate experience is in the very beginning stages when I am getting to know my client and what they like, don’t like, what inspires them, and what beliefs they have around selling or buying a home that could be holding them back. Learning what kind of lifestyle they want to create for themselves and their family and then helping them find the “sweet spot” of endless possibilities and let the process unfold!
What’s your favorite home trend right now? Garden gyms! They are becoming a popular solution for home gyms. I love that a garden gym in your backyard can be far enough away from the main house to avoid distractions like doing laundry, checking your email, or deciding to organize a closet to avoid working out! Yet, close enough with a demanding schedule to make exercise a part of your self-care regime.
There are considerations when planning and designing your garden gym. One of the most important I feel is the equipment you plan to install and how high the ceiling needs to be. You don’t want to hit your head while moving up and down on an elliptical machine, nor do you want your clean and press to go through the roof.
Less is more! As a former personal trainer, this one I cannot stress enough. There are many options for minimal, multi-functional equipment available these days. Think about how many exercises can be performed using this one piece of equipment. It can be as simple as a stability ball, or complex as a cable system.
Garden rooms can add a significant amount of value to a property. I recommend considering how space can be used in the long term and how their purpose can change over time. In a few years maybe you will want to use the space as a guest bedroom, office, art studio, or a kid’s playhouse. Creating a versatile space that will appeal to future owners can help attract buyers when it comes time to sell.
What do you do for fun, outside of work? Most of my time outside of work consists of the demands of motherhood but I love having a creative outlet in refinishing furniture. My old neighbor gave me my first dresser to refinish and it’s still my favorite piece to this day. I make my own chalk paint and have learned from lots of do-over mistakes. My most recent refinishing project was my parent’s stereo we had growing up. Playing old records and dancing around with the family is priceless.
