The knowledge, experience, and opinions of industry professionals and leaders are extremely valuable in navigating how to move forward after the challenges that have occurred this year. It is safe to say that most industries are experiencing changes that are affecting the way they do business and interact with consumers. Real estate is no exception.
Earlier this year, government officials threw real estate brokers a curve ball when they placed restrictions on in-person property showings for the health and safety of brokers and their clients. In order to adapt to the temporary rules, brokers, buyers, and sellers have had to adjust to new protocols and rely more heavily on technology tools. As the landscape continues to change, consumers are looking to industry leaders for insight, guidance, and comfort.
LIV Sotheby’s International Realty (LIV SIR) has been, and continues to be, a resource of information for homebuyers and sellers on the state of the real estate market and current trends. Throughout the past few months, several brokers from LIV SIR have participated in educational webinars, virtual panel discussions, and speaking engagements to share their expert advice and insight. The benefit of these opportunities is that, through conversation, brokers from LIV SIR and other brokerages in different markets can exchange knowledge to help each other become more informed and better prepared to assist their clients.
Denver-based broker, Anne Dresser Kocur, one of LIV SIR’s top-producing brokers, has taken part in multiple virtual panel discussions with fellow broker professionals from other major markets. In the first panel discussion, panelists offered their professional opinions and personal stories about the state of the real estate market in their respective regions throughout the U.S. and Canada.
This past week, Dresser took part in the follow-up discussion to the previous panel to address how buyers and sellers in Denver and across the country have reacted to the constantly changing market since their last discussion. “In April, we were relying on virtual tours. We now have record breaking showing data,” said Dresser in regard to how buyers are engaging the housing market during late spring. These updates are crucial for other brokers to receive as they advise their own clients in making their next move in the housing market.
LIV SIR broker, Malia Cox Nobrega, a prominent real estate professional in the Vail Valley, shared her perspective on the Colorado resort market with a panel of brokers from around the world at the LevelUp conference held by Sotheby’s International Realty. Each broker’s views and personal experiences helped paint a picture of the industry on an international scale. During the discussion, participants from Canada, Italy, and the U.S. talked about the current conditions in the markets they represented, with the goal of learning from each broker’s experience to gain a better understanding of the industry as a whole. Nobrega commented, “It was about how each of us can adapt and thrive in the current climate and how to provide the highest-level representation possible utilizing cutting-edge technology.”
It is these exchanges of knowledge that strengthen brokers’ strategies for success. Continuing education is vital for adapting and getting ahead of the curve, which is an important pillar for LIV SIR as a brand. “LIV SIR continues to take it up a notch in relation to educational opportunities and collaboration,” explained Nobrega. “At Sotheby’s International Realty, we are always striving for the next level and always seeking the knowledge to take us there.”
One of LIV SIR’s Breckenridge-based brokers, Melanie Frank, also regularly contributes to broker-facing education opportunities to share her experience and insights with her colleagues in the real estate industry. Frank partnered with Luxury Real Estate to host an online training session for real estate professionals. The webinar taught brokers how to connect with their clients, act as a resource, and guide them toward reaching their lifestyle goals through real estate.
Due to their many years of experience and ability to thoughtfully analyze regional data, brokers are able to discern fact from fiction when it comes to the real estate market and relay that information to their clients. “Right now, it is important to create value as the expert of today,” said Frank. “We cannot forecast the future, but we can be proactive, trusted advisors about what is happening now in our markets. Our focus is on our relationships and making sure our clients are taken care of with empathy, knowledge, and support.”
