Homes in Denver are in high demand. As many of us already know, the Mile High City is a great place to live, work, and play. And because of its popularity, the housing industry in Denver Metro is thriving. LIV Sotheby’s International Realty (LIV SIR) sat down with Chris Viets of KV Development, a local development firm, to talk about building in Denver, home trends, and what to look for in a home.
Chris knows the housing and real estate industry well. Prior to branching off into development, he was a real estate broker in Denver for over 20 years. “I decided to allow my real estate license to lapse so I could achieve my goal of becoming a full-time developer,” Chris explained. “It was time to leave it to the true professionals working full time, the Brokers at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty.”
Since 2005, KV Development has been building the highest-quality residential homes in Denver. In the past 15 years, the firm has built over 100 homes in the Cherry Creek, Belcaro, Hilltop, LoHi, and Highland neighborhoods. Most recently, KV Development built 65 South Eudora, a gorgeous home in the Hilltop neighborhood of Denver.
This home mixes traditional designs with fresh, modern touches. “65 South Eudora Street was one of our favorite homes we’ve built to date,” said Chris. “We spared no expense in designing this home with a grand, vaulted ceiling in the entire second floor, an elevator, and a true chef’s kitchen.” The seven-bedroom home features a covered patio with a stonework fireplace in back, perfect for enjoying Colorado’s spectacular weather year-round.
When it came time to sell this stunning new home, KV Development knew only the best real estate professionals would do. After many interviews, Chris selected LIV SIR Brokers, Trish Bragg and Maggie Armstrong. Chris said, “My partner, Jeff Koskinen, and I took the time to interview all the top agents from all the top firms that had listings in Hilltop and we decided to go with the best, Trish and Maggie at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty.” Even in the midst of the challenges that the pandemic presented, Trish and Maggie were able to find the perfect buyer for this home. Chris went on to say, “Trish and Maggie pulled off the unimaginable by selling our home to an out-of-state buyer in only three weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic Denver shut down!”
And while KV Development may make it look easy, building homes in Denver does have its challenges. According to Chris, housing in Denver Metro can be expensive due to the rising cost of labor and materials. But despite the challenges, KV Developments is committed to delivering the exceptional homes. “We pride ourselves on the design of our homes, using the highest quality materials, and hiring subcontractors who are the best in their fields,” said Chris. “When the best subcontractors install the best materials, you can stand behind your product with confidence.”
Not only does KV Development prioritize quality, but the firm also ensures that the homes it builds will be timeless in their design. Chris explained that he is seeing homes that feel a bit more traditional on the exterior with large windows, high ceilings and open modern spaces on the inside. “The biggest change we’ve seen is demand for a spacious indoor/outdoor room with a fireplace, which works so well with Colorado’s beautiful weather,” he said. “We like to blend our favorite elements of traditional homes with all the advantages of a modern home.” To KV Development, that means they design livable, inviting spaces with character and functionality. These features are something buyers should consider when looking for homes to buy.
