At LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, our people make the difference! Learn more about one of our remarkable brokers, Jill Sickels Matlock, in her personal Q&A.

How long have you been in the real estate industry for? I have been a realtor in Crested Butte for the last 10 years. Our Crested Butte Sotheby’s International Realty office just recently joined LIV Sotheby’s International Realty and I am looking forward to the next 10 years!

Personally, what drives you in this industry? What I like the best is the opportunity to meet new people and share the Crested Butte area with them. I feel fortunate to have lived in Crested Butte for over 25 years and enjoy helping others find their place here.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about getting kids into skiing and keeping them skiing. I have been a volunteer board member for the Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation for several years. We help support and fund many snowsport programs in our valley including the Crested Butte and Gunnison Elementary School Ski for PE (Physical Education) programs, avalanche education and safety courses, backcountry guided skiing, nordic ski teams, and the Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of the office? Skiing has been a part of my life as long as I can remember and is the reason I moved to Crested Butte. I grew up skiing and continued for many years in the ski industry as a ski race coach, a sponsored ski competitor, a ski instructor, and most recently hosting ski trips around the world. Having been involved in many facets of skiing, from an NCAA D1 ski racer to a US Extreme Skiing Champion and as a PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) National Alpine Team member, to an inductee in Maine’s Ski Hall of Fame, it is just ingrained in me. I still ski as much as I can and teach part-time with the Crested Butte Ski and Ride School.

What’s your favorite part about living and working in Colorado? I love the mountains, the National Forests, the open spaces and the outdoor activities that are right outside my doorstep. Working in real estate gives me the opportunity to share these things with my clients. I am an avid outdoor person and when there is no snow to ski on, you can find me out biking, hiking and exploring with my husband and two teenage sons.

What community do you live in? What do you like about it? I live in Crested Butte South. CB South, as we call it, is seven miles from the town of Crested Butte and nine miles from the base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. I like living here because it is a family-oriented neighborhood. We purchased our home when we were having our second child and it has been great raising the boys here; we have a big back yard, quiet streets, with a park and trails nearby.
