At LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, our people make the difference! Learn more about one of our remarkable brokers, Shawn Kelley, in his personal Q&A.

How long have you been in the real estate industry for? 24 years this month!

What initially drew you to the real estate industry? The joy of the closing. It’s wonderful to see everything and everyone come together, plus clients are able to see their goals achieved.

What has been your biggest accomplishment in your career? It’s hard to name just one, but I guess I would say the ability to “connect the dots” and put people and resources in the right place to get things done. Saving the “tough deals” and timing the “contingent” sales are all things I pride myself in.

What makes LIV Sotheby’s International Realty unique? The marriage of abundant resources and skilled, professional, exceptional people is simply unparalleled and something to be admired and appreciated!

What is a trend that you are keeping your eye on right now in the industry? The impact of retail in communities with the advent of delivery services and continuing market growth of companies like Amazon – how we consume, commute, and operate has completely changed. It affects the housing industry, jobs, etc. And on a similar note, the “Amazon” effect (not just with Amazon) with large companies in communities.

Personally, what drives you in this industry? The desire to see people truly find a place to make a HOME. It’s one of our most intrinsic and passionate motives and it touches people and communities on so many levels. I am proud to be able to help people fulfill their dreams.

What are you passionate about? Of course, my family and friends. Especially my step-children, Jack and Julia, the latter of whom has special needs; awareness and education are important to me. I also enjoy the amazing outdoors here in Colorado and the endless adventures that await us outside of our work and day-to-day lives.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of the office? I am an avid hiker, I play some softball and golf, and I enjoy reading. Plus, I enjoy seeing movies and finding interesting places and adventures in Colorado.

What’s your favorite part about living and working in Colorado? The beauty of this state is absolutely incredible and inspiring; I pinch myself when I see the views we get to see every day. The feeling of freedom and the words from America the Beautiful, inspired by our own Pikes Peak, often resonate when I am working and playing.

What community do you live in? What do you like about it? Currently I live in the DU area, which is an amazing place due to the mixture of housing, the college, proximity to downtown, and Washington Park – which all create amazing energy and buzz. I recently was living in Sedalia, the other end of the spectrum, which has it’s own beauty and charm. Home should be wherever you are.
