LIV Sotheby’s International Realty (LIV SIR) partnered with New Story to raise money to purchase a home for a family in Tlayacapan, Mexico. After the earthquake in 2017, many families suffered losses and the funds raised by LIV SIR will build a home for the Reyes Cantu – Torres Garcia family, who have dreamed of having a new house where their family can feel safe again.
The partnership with New Story, a non-profit organization that provides safe living environments, was introduced by Sotheby’s International Realty at the beginning of 2018. The goal is to raise around $6,000 per home, which is put towards transforming dangerous living conditions into safe surroundings. LIV SIR immediately decided to participate, and LIV SIR’s downtown office ramped up their efforts to build a home.
“Learning about what New Story does compelled our downtown office of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty to support this incredible opportunity to help an entire family,” said Steve Blank, managing broker for LIV SIR’s Downtown Denver office. “I am proud of everyone in the office, both individually and collectively, for helping people receive a much-needed, newly built, and modern home in such a philanthropic way.”
Blank first announced the partnership to the office in February of 2018, and as of August 22nd a goal of raising $6,500 was met by the office, now the total funds raised are at $6,749. The attained goal was reached by assistance of both the brokers and staff of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty.
“I love the fact that we have such a great opportunity to give just a little in order to help a whole family live a better life,” added Blank. “Over a billion people live without the foundation of a home, without running water or clean sanitation. New Story is one of our favorite charities and through them we can build a home, one that will last many generations and be the foundation that allows them to thrive.”
