On May 5, 2018 a crowd of over 5,200 gathered at the annual Denver Derby Party, a highly anticipated event which was established to benefit the Sean “Ranch” Lough Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
Held annually on the first Saturday in May at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, the Denver Derby Party draws a crowd of impeccably dressed, mint julep imbibing revelers to celebrate the Kentucky Derby, and simultaneously invest in the education of Denver’s youth. LIV Sotheby’s International Realty (LIV SIR) broker Ron Martinez, one of the founding members of the Sean “Ranch” Lough Foundation, has been on the Board of Directors since its existence in 2001, and had the honor of presenting this year’s scholarship winners, Tia Jorgensen, Paola Rodriguez, and Molly Rosales, with a full ride to Colorado State University.
“I am privileged to be one of the founders of this fantastic group of people that organizes and hosts this annual event,” said LIV Sotheby’s International Realty broker, Ron Martinez. “I have been charged with leading the Scholarship Committee and this year identified 3 amazing local high school seniors to attend CSU on a four-year scholarship and carry the Sean Lough flag, keeping the spirit of our friend alive”
Paola Rodriguez, a soon-to-be graduate of West Leadership Academy, served as a member of the YESS mentoring program and plans to study Environmental Engineering at CSU. A senior at Littleton High School, Molly Rosales plans to pursue a Zoology degree to further develop her passion for helping animals. Tia Jorgensen, a senior at Overland High School, had a life-long dream of attending Colorado State University and plans to explore the many educational opportunities the University offers.
