Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty® (FSIR) has named top Denver broker Dee Ciancio as the new Managing Broker for the firm’s Cherry Creek location. Dee will now lead the Cherry Creek office’s broker team in place of Shannel Ryan, who has accepted the promotion to Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Metro Denver Offices.

Dee’s long history of success in the Denver market has solidified her place among the city’s top realtors. A broker for 7 years, Dee relies on her deep knowledge of the industry and commitment to well-tested buying and selling systems. As managing broker, her comprehensive approach to problem solving and expertise in managing business relationships and guiding professional development will be welcome assets

“Dee is an exemplary broker, with all the tools and experience necessary to effectively manage our Cherry Creek office. I’m excited to welcome her into this new role and look forward to the benefits she can bring our agents both as a leader and as an example of how a broker should conduct business,” said President Scott Webber.

Dee’s role as managing broker will also be shaped by her in-depth knowledge of best practices, training, organized processes and marketing. Additionally, she has been involved in educating brokers who market historic properties.  It is from this rich perspective that she will provide leadership and guidance to the FSIR brokers working in Cherry Creek.

Shannel Ryan - Fuller Sothebys International Realty
“I am honored to be working with such an outstanding team in Cherry Creek office and Fuller Sotheby’s organization,” said Dee. “Shannel Ryan’s leadership and achievement is an extraordinarily tough act to follow. But, I am looking forward to the challenge of collaborating with our brokers, staff and leadership to raise the bar at every level of service and professional excellence.”

“As Vice President, Sales and Marketing Shannel will be able to affect positive change across all our offices by implementing the same proven strategies she used as Managing Broker of Cherry Creek. We’re glad to have someone with her skill-set playing a major role at all our metro offices,” said President Scott Webber.

Recent Wine Discoveries

7May 2012

Yesterday, my sister-in-law sent me a video related to emotional intelligence, and more specifically about finding a Noble Cause-the why you live your life.  In the wine business I think the answer is because there are wines that make you feel better about yourself and others.  Without getting to profound here, wine is a beverage of pleasure and sometimes of insight.  We should drink it because we like it, it enhances our day, it makes our food taste better, and we enjoy the people and conversations we share with it.  That said, here are some of the reasons I love being in the wine business, some wines that have brightened my day and answer the question of why I like selling wine.

Herencia Altes is a project a long time in the making.  For generations the Altes family has been grape growers in a region tucked away in southeastern Catalonia, Terra Alta.  Not well known, it is one of the largest areas in Catalonia (think Priorat, Monsant, Penedes) under vine.  Here Granatxa bush vines (head pruned Grenache) flourish in both the red and white strains, and have for centuries.  Most of the grapes are sold to cooperatives but Nuria Altes, the newest generation, has just changed that.  She has taken the old vines growing on the hills around her home town of Batea and made wines to show the true quality of her area, literally she wants to put Terra Alta on the map.

When I first tried these wines with our staff I played the “what should these sell for game.”  They realize they may be asked to sell the wines and they want to have the best chance for success so they lean to the low side of what the wines might fetch in the market.  To a person they all guessed 3 price points higher than the suggested retail price.  You simply must try both the Garntxa Blanca and Negra for about $10 they are wines of soul that will inspire you.  And for a lucky few, the designated vineyards of Benufet and L’Estel will be found for under $20 they might change your life.

Italy has long been a favorite destination of tourists, and especially for those that love food and wine.  La Dolca Vita  has drawn pilgrims to Tuscany and Piedmonte, Emilia-Romagna and increasingly to Sicily and Sardinia.  Each area produces world worthy wines and deserve our attention.  Yet tucked up in the North East corner of Italy is an area that isn’t as flamboyant as much of the peninsula, perhaps it is the influence of the Dolomites or the crystal clear cool nights that keep the Sud-Tyrol out of sight for many, but for me the laser like intensity and minerality of these wines set them apart.

A few weeks ago Christof Tiefenbrunner was in Denver working the market and showing his wines to the trade.  These are wines that deliver a purity of fruit and place, that capture the flavors of the crisp apples that grow in the river valleys, along with pears, but with a tenseness that you don’t find in warmer climates.  Pinot Grigio and Pinot Blanc can be insipide white wines indistinguishable from many others, but in Christof’s hands they are nervy, high toned beauties that will enhance a summer’s evening for you and for those you choose to share your new discovery.

Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty reports a solid month of March for Denver luxury home sales

27Apr 2012

Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty outpaced the market during a strong showing for luxury real estate sales in Denver during the month of March.  Overall, the entire Denver market achieved $84.4 million in sales of homes priced over $1 million, and homes listed by FSIR were on the market for an average of only  21 days (well ahead of the market average of 33 days, as reported by Metrolist).  FSIR also had the most expensive listing in March at $4.5 million and highest average sales price at $2.283 million compared to Metrolist’s average of $270,000.

“Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty continues to be looked upon as the preeminent company for people who want to buy or sell a luxury home, and the results we achieved during the month of March further exemplify our knowledge of and experience in the market,” said Scott Webber, President of Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty.  “Our brokers and company as a whole won multiple awards at the Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® 2011 REALTOR® Roundtable, including being recognized as the Top Producing Office in 2011 with more than $690 million in closed sales volume. We are consistent producers, who work hard to deliver the results our clients expect.”

According to the Metrolist Report, the number of homes sold in March 2012 was up 63 percent from February, and up 48 percent from March 2011.

“We believe, along with other market experts, that the increased sales numbers indicate that the upcoming spring and summer months hold a great deal of promise for selling a luxury home, and that now is the time to strongly consider putting a home on the market for sale,” said Webber.  “Inventories are down from a year ago, as are ‘days-on-market’, making conditions very favorable for those who are thinking of selling their home.  It’s a good time for both buyers and sellers in the Denver market.”

Carrol Howard and Linda Alexander join Sotheby’s International Realty

19Mar 2012

Sotheby’s International Realty is pleased to announce that real estate veterans Carrol Howard and Linda Alexander have joined the firm’s Greenwood Village office as brokers.

Carrol has been involved in the real estate market for more than 17 years, both in Boston and the Denver Metro area.  He was consistently among the top producers at one of the most productive real estate offices in Massachusetts, where he was involved in the marketing and sales of homes and condominiums.  Upon his return to Denver in 1998, Carrol became an on-site sales director for custom homes in several communities, including Lowry in Denver and The Estates at Buffalo Ridge in Castle Pines North.  He averaged approximately two sales per month of custom homes valued at well over $1 million.  Before entering the real estate profession, Carrol had a successful career in the U.S. Army.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and attended graduate schools at the University of Denver and Harvard.

Linda became a licensed real estate agent in 1993 and immediately began applying her vast experience and skill sets – as a Certified Public Accountant, entrepreneur, consultant, business owner and investor – on behalf of her clients.  Her professional background and extensive involvement in business, sales and accounting have helped her see through even the most difficult real estate transactions from their inception to a successful closing.  She has earned many distinctions including the Graduate Realtor Certificate and the Accredited Buyer Representative, Certified Residential Specialist and Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource designations.  She is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Denver.
